Mr. Murdoch, I am not buying it

So what does a supposedly fair and balanced news organization do when they are caught being unfair and biased? They feign incompetence.

Smokers ripped off by Apple

Did you know, that smoking isn’t good for your computer, either? It’s true, at least according to Apple. Two readers in different parts of the country claim that their Applecare warranties were voided due to secondhand smoke.

Now, in addition to deleting complaints about bugs in their support forums, they are finding excuses for not honoring their warranties. Another way that this can be viewed is that Apple is punishing those that smoke. Funny how when the government even thinks about doing anything similar, some are up in arms. When it is a corporation, the imaginary hand must be allowed to do its magic.

Palin and health care

Palin strolled over, looking down on Walsh and her crew to tell them that “Canada needs to dismantle its public health-care system and allow private enterprise to get involved and turn a profit.”

Rather telling eh? That pretty much sums up how Palin and the other McCarthyists think. Their opposition to health care reform has nothing to do with liberty or patients rights. It is all about “turning a profit”.

Happy Thanksgiving

May your turkey and stuffing be moist and your cranberries not be in the shape of a can.

Black Friday tomorrow

Its time for our favorite consumerist tradition. Anyone want to make guess as to how many people get trampled?

So someone breaks into the wife’s car

Do they take the cash or booze that was in there? No, they took a bag full of papers and books. Idiots.

Obama pardoned the turkey

Obama pardoned a turkey today. I am surprised that the republicans did not immediately jump on this as him being soft on terrorism. After all, remember what those avians did to that plane over the Hudson River.

Voting for second class citizens

It seems like one of the actions that the McCarthyists want is to limit the ability to vote to certain people. In effect, they want to designate certain groups of people as second class citizens. As far as the Constitution is concerned this would be legal as nobody has the constitutional right to vote. So the question really is how do you define who are these second class citizens.

What I propose is that we define this group as people who are not productive members of society. Basically, the only people who will be allowed to vote would be those that create useful commodities and those that promote “the Progress of Science and useful Arts”.

This definition would be win-win for the country. Not only would it deny the vote from people that the McCarthyists find undesirable, it also deny the vote from most of Wall Street. Excluding Wall Street from being allowed to vote is a good idea because they do not really produce anything of value. All they do is create bubbles which eventually drag down the economy and necessitate bail outs. Why would we want to let those people vote?

There will be side effects. It would deny the vote from the elderly. The elderly tend to be retired which mean they are not working and producing anything useful. For the McCarthyists this would not be a bad thing as they think people are retiring too early because only the wealthy should be allowed the luxury of enjoying their twilight years.

Unfortunately, this would deny the vote to those in the military. The whole raison d’etre of the military is to kill people and to destroy things. That is the polar opposite of producing things. I am sure that they would understand as we are trying to preserve the republic.

How about this… instead of trying to define who should be a second class citizens, the McCarthyists should come up with solutions to problems. Let us keep the status quo and allow anyone who is an American citizen to vote. Coincidentally, this is the same system used by the founding fathers.

Pittsburgh to tax the poor

College students are grumbling about Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s proposed 1 percent tuition tax, and university officials wonder why the city would clog up an engine that has been fueling its growth.

Yes, that is a good idea. Tax people who have little to no income because they are supposedly not paying their fair share. I guess the income taxes they pay on jobs they get in the city do not count. I am sure that they pay taxes on things they buy; nope that does not count either.

I have to wonder about something. How many tax abatements has the city of Pittsburgh given to businesses over the years? It amazes me that all of these major cities around the country let businesses operate tax free and then when there is a budget shortfall, it is the Average Joe who ends up footing the bill.

Beck doing political organization

So Beck is going into community organizing. If he has not chosen a name, I would like to suggest New United Team Crusading Against Socialist Enemies (NUTCASE).
